IMAGINE a neglected house in an otherwise nice suburban area. The neighbors never see the owner of forty years but call 9-1-1 when an odor is detected. The police don't find a body and there are no missing person reports. Instead, within a filthy interior of rotten food and bedding on the floor - they discover a huge quantity of vintage 20th-Century record albums, singles, sheet-music and unidentified acetate master discs.  The only clues are curious etchings in the return-areas where grooves end - within the dead-wax!

Author Justin Cipollini, a collector of musical memorabilia and an audiophile, goes on a global search to find the artists, song-writers and engineers behind the thousands of hours in the hoard. He finds the few producers still alive including the former owner of the largest record company represented in the collection. Together, the two reconnect with a time and state of recording arts a half century past and almost lost - as they seek to find the man who lived in the vinyl house!
